Erast

1. Temple of Dal Quor

While much of the architecture in Erast is exotic- open air verandas, flowing curtains, and strong clay adobe, the Temple of Dal Quor is a stunning display placed on the precipice of a cliff overlooking the sea beyond at the far east of the city. From the city, the entire building appears spherical with large pillars, 15 feet high holding up the stone roof. With its open air design, there are large openings that act as windows, but without any pane. Acolytes and worshippers appear to come and go without any need for security. Simple details in the structure give off a sense of eloquence without appearing overly grandeur. In keeping with this theme, a crimson rug makes its way from the entrance hall down into the temple itself.

Most of the rooms are simple living quarters, but inside can also be found a kitchen, a library, ceremonial chambers, prayer rooms, and, resting in the very center of the temple, a Communion Chamber in which the Kalahstar people that have been gifted with true sight are able to communicate with the Gods.

The most infamous of these Kalashtar is Valakhad Tash, simply known as “The Sage“. An old man of indeterminate age who can be found dressed in flowing blue robes with a white sash- the garb of a revered Kalashtar leader. He is quick to offer a smile with thin lips. The milky color in his eyes almost matches the white hair that flows down his back in a tight braid. While blind, many say he can see more without sight than many can with.

2. Firewater Frank’s

Standing in the center of the large, open floor of this tavern in a circular bar, behind which stands a large human man with wide mutton chops. He is dressed in a long brown tunic with a khaki vest over it that is covered in pockets. Out of these pockets poke a small knife, a ball of yarn, some candle wax, some rolls of parchment, and other accoutrement. Always willing to share a story of adventure and intrigue, the titular Frank is was once an avid explorer who decided to settle in this exotic desert city and open his own place after discovering a strange spirit distilled here in the desert from dry grains- lovingly called “Firewater”. With an extremely high alcohol content, not only is this tincture highly flammable, but it gives the sensation of swallowing fire when imbibed.

3. Ahmet’s Fine Goods

A small shop that offers a wide array of alchemical items, magical reagents, and the occasional trinket.

4. Geoffery’s

A trade goods market that finds itself sprawled out into the streets during the day. Boasting a wide selection of exotic spices, precious metals, fine silks, and liquors from all over the continent, Geoffery’s is the premier place to find any item you may be looking for.

5. Sultan’s Desire

This small café sits near the gates and is a welcome respite to those newly arrived in the city. Serving a variety of pastries, spicy grain-based dishes, exotic fruits, dark coffees, and fruit juices, diners can find anything they might desert to quench the desert heat here.

6. Erast Bathhouse

Given the extreme heat, the common adventurer is likely to find himself sticky and sweaty. The Erast Bathhouse offers a place to refresh yourself while also getting to mingle and meet some of the locals. At a stiff upcharge, patrons can also be served intoxicating concoctions of fruit juice and arrack- a liquor distilled from coconut palm.

7. Landing Pad

A small landing strip rests outside of the city gates on which a small stall with a red sun screen stands. Under this sunscreen stands a grey-bearded goblin man named Grub’nak, the trade master of Erast. He oversees what is brought into the city to ensure that no illicit or dangerous substances make their way in and that commerce remains fair amongst the merchants that trade there. He takes his duties very seriously and, for this reason, can come off as cantankerous.
